Brixton-based Bounce Back is a social enterprise and Registered Charity that supports offenders by providing training and employment in painting and decorating during their last year of imprisonment. The goal of the program is to help the individuals grow confidence in their social skills and employability. This effectively reduces re-offending rates by ensuring post-sentence employment.

Bounce Back builds teams of professional painters and decorators from participants that have passed through the training program, and more than 2,000 individuals have gained qualifications with the organization. Supplied as subcontractors on construction contracts, in the past year alone, Bounce Back painters and decorators have completed 110 jobs.

Working on behalf of JP Morgan Chase Foundation, Newable has been delivering the Get Ready to Supply program for 4 years. The program connects small construction companies in East and Inner London to huge construction projects in the Capital.

Bounce Back registered onto Get Ready to Supply in April 2016. Francesca Findlater, the founder and CEO of Bounce Back, invited us to Brixton Prison where we were able to see the work Bounce Back does firsthand. Francesca had ambitions to extend Bounce Back’s training services to female prisons; however, she lacked the funds to be able to do so.

Following this, Newable was able to nominate Bounce Back for a grant with the Third House Trust. Our team supported Francesca with her application, which was successful, and Bounce Back attained £12,500 for their new Women in Construction initiative.
